Adding Content Items

There are several different content types that can be added in Plone. New content items are added via the drop down tab 'Add new' on the green menu bar. Navigate through your website to the place where you want to add the new item(s) and press 'Add new'. Select the content item type you want from the drop-down list.

Add A Folder

A Folder structure is the best way to organise the contents of your Plone site. Just like physical folders keep your desk top tidy, so do your virtual folders on your website.

Add a News Item

Plone news items allow you to add several different features to your news as well as display the latest news items automatically in a news portlet

Hide side Portlets

Plone portlets display on the left and/or right side of the page. These are accessible via the "manage portlets" link.

Why is this not showing?

Plone Workflow States are the most common 'missed' feature on a plone website. Easily missed off the 'to-do' list, it can cause frustration as to why something is not displaying.

Not all my Images are visible - Why?

You made the page visible to the public by changing the state to 'Published', but not all the images added to the page are displaying when you log out. Remember that Plone Workflow States are on pages, folders & Images etc so when you add an image to a page, you have to make sure that the image is 'Published' too. Likewise with a PDF that has been linked into a page. If the PDF is not 'Published' the visitor cannot download the document. They will get a request to log into the site instead.
